RE: School's Computer Development Plan
The management is pleased to announce that the School Owners recently approved a two-year Computer Development Plan. The Plan includes replacement of Macintosh computers with PC computers. The following are other highlights:
The owners appointed a School Technology Committee charged with the responsibility to make recommendations for IT improvements.
The entire school is to be wired for both Internet and in-school e-communication. A contractor is already on site and the anticipated completion date for this project is May 30.
In September, there will be 1) New PC replacement computers for four existing laboratories, plus PC computers for two new laboratories; 2)New PC replacement computers for the two school libraries and 3) New PC replacement computers for many of the department heads and other office personnel. All computers will have internet access.
In Septemer, there will be new web software installed that will 1) Open teacher-student-parent communication, 2) Enable teachers to have their own web page and email address. On-going computer training workshops will also be scheduled for teachers.
The School Owners have approved "in principle" the Computer Development Plan for 2002/2003 that will. 1) Focus on instruction with each classroom in Grades 3-12 connected to the Internet, plus Internet access for each grade level in the Primary School; and 2) Each teacher will be provided a school assigned laptop computer.
