Grading Inventory, Rubric and Grading Scale
Grading Rubric and Grading Inventory

The most important concept you will learn in this class is how to solve problems creatively. In other words, you will learn how to state problems (including what you need and know), overcome obstacles and achieve goals using your creativity. Written mathematically,
PROBLEM SOLVING = OVERCOMING OBSTACLES + ACHIEVING GOALS
What you will learn and demonstrate is your understanding and use of this simple problem solving process or the DESIGN PROCESS

How will I know this? If you use this checklist during all your projects, you and I will both know, how you have done. Here is a sample from a "Designing Beams" project and a "Designing a Tallest Straw Tower" project.

Unsatisfactory (1)
Fair (2)
Good (3)
Excellent (4)
I PROBLEM, including a clear statement in your own words

VII Combined PRODUCT and PROCESS Score
= SUM of scores (I + II + III + IV + V + VI) = TOTAL SCORE OUT OF 24
Grading Scale
How do you convert the total score (in %) in IX above, into a letter grade? The letter grades A, B, C, D, and F will be used as follows:
A+ =
94% - 100%
Achievement at the advanced level
A =
90% - 93%
A- =
87% - 89%
B+ =
84% - 86%
Achievement at the proficient level
B =
80% - 83%
B- =
77% - 79%
C+ =
74% - 76%
Achievement at the basic level
C =
70% - 73%
C- =
67% - 69%
D+ =
64% - 66%
Achievement less than basic level
D =
60% - 63%
D- =
50% - 59%
F =
0% - 49%
Failure to achieve at a level to earn credit
